Bringing the Tobacco Control Community Together
Tobacco control work is carried out by people across in the health promotion, government, and academic sectors. ACOSH plays a central role in connecting these diverse voices, fostering collaboration and ensuring that expertise and experience are shared. By bringing people together, ACOSH strengthens the impact of advocacy and promotes coordinated action across the sector.
Knowledge Sharing & Engagement
Events are a cornerstone of ACOSH’s advocacy and engagement strategy. By hosting and supporting gatherings, we provide platforms to recognise leadership in tobacco control, build alliances across the sector, and expose tobacco and vaping industry interference. Past events have included keynotes addresses from Hon Mark Butler MP, Prof Tom Calma AO, Illicit Tobacco and E-cigarette Commissioner Amber Shuhyta, and author of Puff Piece, John Safran.
Our Council organisations, who meet bimonthly, play a central role in strengthening collaboration across the sector. If your organisation would like to help support our mission by joining our Council, please get in touch.
Conferences & Workshops
ACOSH actively coordinates workshops and learning opportunities for our Council and the tobacco control sector. ACOSH also participates in national and international conferences including the World Conference on Tobacco Control and PHAA’s Preventative Health Conference. These symposiums bring together specialists, researchers, and policymakers to share knowledge, discuss emerging issues, and strengthen tobacco control strategies. These contributions enable ACOSH to stay at the forefront of evidence-based advocacy and connect with stakeholders across Australia and internationally.
